An Apology
Just wanted to say that I am and have been without a camera since May, and I haven't posted a thing about it. I am getting another camera (ie. next week) and should be back soon, doing what I do best.
In the meantime, I will leave you with a quote I always remember when I look at the Wharf picture below...
From The Simpsons:
Captain: Arr, here be a fine vessel -- the yarest river-going boat there be!
Homer: I'll take it!
[The raft sinks]
Captain: [sadly] Arr, I don't know what I'm doing....
The Fisherman's Wharf

A little seafood restaurant that I pass every now and then. It looks so awkward nestled in between two business buildings, so I had to take a pic. But, the pic I took was pretty boring. I spiced it up a bit with photoshop...METERING : AF SPOT

The Changing of the Guard
I was at a friend's house recently, and he lives right next to Niagara Falls. So, I just had grab at least one pic of the falls changing colour (the falls don't actually change colour, it's just the lighting :P). But, what actually made for better pics was the strip of little shops and stores that are on a street right before the falls. I'll try to get some pics of those too...METERING : CENTER

Gold Lining

"Our eye must constantly measure, evaluate. We alter our perspective by a slight bending of the knees; we convey the chance meeting of lines by a simple shifting of our heads a thousandth of an inch…. We compose almost at the same time we press the shutter, and in placing the camera closer or farther from the subject, we shape the details – taming or being tamed by them." -Henri Cartier-Bresson

I think everyone that walks into the BCE Place for the first time is stunned by the architecture. This place is absolutely amazing and I had to have atleast one picture of it, since I make a point to walk through it everyday - even after walking through it for 5+ years now...

Tilt Your Head

I recently saw a gallery that had pictures taken using strictly tilt-shift lens. Tilt-shift lenses make objects appear like minitures. Now, these lenses start at $500, but they are really, really cool. So, being the broke student/artiste that I am, I tried to create the same effect using photoshop.

Cosmo's
Haven't had much inspiration lately, as I just finished my mid-term exams, so I'm pretty burnt out and therefore, haven't taken many new photo's. This spot is part bar, part hotel, I think. Whatever it is, they change the light up in front every day. So, Wednesday's they got red lighting, Thursday's they got blue, etc. Very posh, the dude inside tried to chase me away, but I got a couple shots off.METERING : AF SPOT

Ye Olde Door
My photography teacher would never let us take colour photo's. Ever. She felt that in order to fully appreciate colour, you must understand lighting first. She would cringe if she saw all the colour pictures I've been taking recently.
This photo has pretty much no shadows or lighting effects at all, BUT atleast its not colour, right?

Red Herring
I really have a love for detail in architecture. This new trend of straight glass and metal buildings is nice but the small attention to detail in old buildings really appeals to my sense of style.
